Our Healthy Whelp doppler is a high quality, medical grade fetal doppler capable of detecting a fetal heartbeat as early as 35-40 days (5-6 weeks). Litter size detection can be achieved approx 50-55 days gestation. Our heartbeat monitors come complete with a 3Mhz waterproof probe, doppler gel and easy to follow instructions.
Although the Healthy Whelp Pro doppler is great for use with any sized dog or cat it may work better than a doppler with a 2 Mhz probe on smaller breeds of dogs and smaller farm animals. The 3 Mhz probe has a wider beam than a 2 Mhz probe and is therefore able to sometimes detect a heartbeat a few days earlier than a 2 Mhz probe. However, after about 37-40 days, both dopplers are able to detect the heartbeat at about the same rate.
